In The Joy Standard, sacred space simply means a place—internal or external—where Jesus Christ is intentionally invited to be present.
When God made and sanctified the earth, he organized it. Similarly, when we invite Him to organize our lives through his doctrine, his principles and commandments, he sanctifies us through His Spirit, his glory and grace.
It is not about perfection or aesthetics.
It is about purpose and dedication. His influence, his glory, and grace, his love and creative power fills us with joy!
Sacred space can exist in:
a person’s heart
a home
a family
a classroom or co-op
a gathered community
Any space can become beautiful and sacred when it is oriented toward Christ. When His influence is invited, not only through a prayer, but also by our mindsets, attitudes and lifestyles.
How sacred space is created
Sacred space is created when alignment is followed by intention.
When:
the mind is oriented toward truth
the heart is shaped by covenant love
daily life reflects wise and faithful practice
then a space can be set apart.
This means:
choosing what belongs inside the space
choosing what does not
agreeing to shared values and expectations
These choices protect peace and make belonging possible.
A scriptural pattern
Throughout scripture, God’s people marked spaces as dedicated to Him.
In Exodus, the Israelites marked their doorposts with the blood of the lamb. This act did not make them perfect—it marked their homes as places of protection and covenant.
“And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are… and when I see the blood, I will pass over you.”
— Exodus 12:13
Today, we mark sacred space through covenant, repentance, and commitment to live according to Christ’s teachings.
Christ makes sacred space possible
Jesus Christ is not only the focus of sacred space—He is the reason it works.
He said:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
Through Him:
we are cleansed
we are taught
we are renewed
Sacred space is not created by human effort alone.
It is created when Christ is invited to dwell and lead.
Why sacred space matters
Sacred space creates conditions where people can:
feel safe
trust one another
grow without fear
resolve conflict with charity
experience joy consistently
Without sacred space, even good intentions eventually break down. Consacrating things give us deep vision and aligment to build and go on.
With His influence, relationships can endure.
Sacred space leads to gathering
Once sacred space exists, people can gather in meaningful ways.
Families can function with clarity.
Communities can form with shared understanding.
Co-ops can thrive without constant tension or burnout.
This is why sacred space always comes before structure.
